Nurse shift schedule generator & auto rostering

Auto-roster a full month of Day · Evening · Night duties from your ward’s staffing rules, then refine only what still needs a human eye.

Shift labels and rules shown here (D·E·N, OFF, ACT, and similar) follow common Korean hospital 3-shift ward practice.

Why auto rostering fails in spreadsheets

Filling D·E·N by hand means juggling per-team coverage, forbidden patterns (for example night-to-day), consecutive-night rules, weekly OFF, and weekday preferences at once. Fixing Tuesday often breaks Thursday.

A nurse shift schedule generator only helps if those constraints are first-class inputs—not afterthoughts in a comment column.

What N-Ship’s generator considers

  • Min/max D/E/N by team and day type (weekday, Saturday, Sunday, holiday)
  • Shared settings such as max consecutive OFF, weekly minimum OFF, and the no-3-consecutive-nights option
  • NOE prohibition toggle in settings; NNOE as a built-in soft preference (no toggle); night-keep 3 Off after 3 Nights
  • Weekday work and exclusion requests managers enter on the web, plus overlap and handover pair limits
  • Monthly base Off as a per-month Off day count for the account; leave set per nurse in the calendar

After the draft: fairness, edits, export

Generation produces a calendar you can inspect with nurse, team, and daily stats. The dashboard includes fairness-oriented views (for example nights, consecutive nights, work days, and offs) so imbalances are visible.

Edit individual cells, regenerate when settings change, and export Excel or images for the ward board. Nursing assistants can be scheduled from separate menus.

Sample ward for a first auto-roster

New users can choose “Try with sample ward” on the dashboard, open schedule generation, and see constraint-aware auto rostering without configuring a live unit first.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as “auto rostering” software?

Yes in the sense that N-Ship searches for a monthly assignment that respects your configured constraints. It is not a black-box that ignores ward rules—you set staffing, patterns, and requests first.

Can I override the generator?

Yes. Cell-level edits in the calendar are part of the workflow. The product assumes managers will finish edge cases by hand when the ward needs it.

Do unmet constraints block the whole month?

The product prioritizes producing a schedule. When some conditions cannot be fully satisfied, it surfaces them so you can adjust inputs or edit cells.

Does generation include nursing assistants?

Nursing assistants have separate teams, calendars, and generation entry points from the nurse flow.
