Free nurse scheduling software for 3-shift wards

N-Ship helps nurse managers auto-generate monthly D·E·N rosters without starting from a blank spreadsheet—then edit cells and export when the ward needs a tweak.

Shift labels and rules shown here (D·E·N, OFF, ACT, and similar) follow common Korean hospital 3-shift ward practice.

The problem free tools rarely solve

Most “free nurse schedule” templates are static grids. They do not enforce team min/max staffing, the no-3-consecutive-nights option, weekly OFF minimums, or weekday work/exclude requests managers enter—so managers still rebuild the month by hand.

Fairness also slips: nights and weekends pile onto the same people unless the tool tracks those balances while it fills the calendar.

How N-Ship solves it

N-Ship is free nurse scheduling software built for Korean-style 3-shift wards (Day · Evening · Night). You register nurses and teams, set generation rules, enter weekday work and exclusion requests on the web, then generate the month.

After generation you can review fairness-oriented stats on the dashboard, edit any cell in the calendar, and export Excel or images for posting.

  • Constraint-aware auto-generation (staffing, NOE / no-3-consecutive-nights options, manager-entered requests, overlap/handover limits)
  • Manual cell edits with nurse/team/day stats after the draft is ready
  • “Try with sample ward” on the dashboard so a new account can run generation without importing real staff
  • Separate nursing-assistant teams and calendars when your ward needs them

What “free” means here

N-Ship is free to sign up and use for the core schedule generation and editing workflow described on this site.

We do not claim enterprise HRIS replacement, payroll, or a nurse-facing shift marketplace. N-Ship focuses on ward roster generation and request-driven constraints for managers.

Try it with the sample ward

After sign-up, the dashboard offers “Try with sample ward” with example teams, nurses, and rules. Create it, open schedule generation, and produce a month without entering your real staff first.

Frequently asked questions

Is N-Ship really free nurse scheduling software?

Yes. You can create an account and use the core schedule generation and editing features described here for free.

Does it work for US 12-hour schedules?

N-Ship is designed for 3-shift D·E·N ward practice common in Korean hospitals. It is not a dedicated 12-hour two-shift template product. If your unit uses D·E·N-style three shifts, the generator and rules map closely; pure 12-hour day/night models may not match.

Can I try before entering my whole ward?

Yes. After registration, use “Try with sample ward” on the dashboard to load example data and run generation.

What happens if some rules cannot all be met?

N-Ship still aims to produce a schedule. Unmet conditions are reported in messages/UI so you can adjust staffing, requests, or edit cells rather than ending with an empty month.

Start free and generate a sample month

Create an account, use “Try with sample ward”, and run the nurse shift schedule generator.

No need to import your full roster first—the sample ward is built for a first run.
